It wouldn’t be fair if I called this the best ramen I’ve ever had yet simply because it’s the first time I’ve ever had ramen. I didn’t believe in love at first sight until I tasted the broth from my Richie Rich noodle bowl and now I’m so thankful I didn’t have to wait until I was well into my 30s to find the love of my life. (So maybe that would be love at first bite? Not sure.) Anyways, If Domu wanted to leave a lasting impression on me, they definitely did that and so much more.

The flavors were there, the presentation was there, and the ambiance was there. I can’t get over how delicious this meal was and I’m actively planning my next visit as I type this. I won’t go on too much about the flavor since this is something you have to experience for yourself because let’s be honest, it would be annoying to read 5 sentences all saying “it was delicious” in different variations.

Let me just go ahead and be completely transparent, the wait here is terrible. Everyone knows this, it’s not a secret, and this isn’t me saying bad things about them. If you want to dine at Domu, expect to WAIT. Don’t expect to get lucky because patience really is a virtue here. If you decide to dine alone you may be able to get a seat immediately. It's happened to me. But, again, not guaranteed. I can truly say that good things come to those who wait at Domu because the noodle bowls here really are to die for.

Unfortunately, they only have one location but I hear they’re expanding soon so stay on the lookout for that!

Decor: Gorgeous. The style was consistent. Very modern. Great light fixtures, plants, bronze accents, trendy, etc. Their set up is quite enjoyable and I believe it would be appealing to most people. The music here is worth mentioning as well because I've enjoyed it every single time.

Price: For this type of food, I would say the prices made sense. The average bowl is about $13, which, once again, made sense at dinner time. Outside of the bowls, the other menu items are reasonable as well, but be clear, in no way is this a “cheap” destination. The speciality drinks are a pretty good deal as well and the happy hour is the bomb. You can definitely quote me on that.

Occasion: Welllllll with the time you have to wait here, the reason better be worth it. Kidding, but keep in mind that they do not allow parties lager than 6 so large celebrations are not an option but small ones are! A productive meeting probably wouldn’t be best because of the noise level. The first time I went, it was so loud that it felt like I had to shout to have a conversation. It caught me off guard, but that's not enough to deter me from the establishment. But if you're just simply in the mood for some good ramen, get here asap.

Dress Code: The energy here is so chill that you can kinda come how you’d like BUT I’m suggesting nice, casual dinner attire. (It doesn’t have to be heels and your fav dress shoes you only wear on Easter Sunday, but definitely not sweats and gym shorts.) First off, it’s dinner time. Unless you’re coming directly from work, we need a little effort please. Second off, if you’re gonna wait at least 45 mins for a table at least make it worthwhile and give your night a little pizzazz, sparkle, SOMETHING. Obviously, the people here won’t necessarily care how you dress but just know if you come out half stepping, I’ll be in the shadows shaking my head from disappointment in the name of Living Not Loathing. If you come at lunch time, I'd give you a little more wiggle room because it's just lunch.
